IHC Software Kit

Introduction

The Danish company Lauritz Knudsen A/S (LK) manufactures a so-called "IHC Controller". The controller is a stand-alone device which have the capabilities to control 128 digital output channels (low-voltage and power-relays) and read 128 input channels. The purpose of the controller is to control lighting, appliances, etc. in the home. The controller can be connected to a Windows-based PC with a serial cable (RS232). LK has made an ActiveX componenent that handles the serial communication between the controller and the PC. The aim of this project is to show how to interface to the ActiveX component in order to control the outputs on the controller and to read the inputs on the controller.
